हिनदूस्तान पैट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लि. मुंबई मे प्रबंधक राजभाषा के पद पर कार्यरत श्री राजीव सारस्वत ताज हॉटेल में संसदीय समिति के दौरे से संबंधित ड्यूटी पर तैनात थे । सरकारी काम पर रहते हुए आतंकी हमले के दौरान शहीद हो गए ।

मुरादाबाद उत्तर प्रदेश निवासी श्री राजीव सारस्वत विगत 20 से भी अधिक वर्षोसे मुंबई में पत्रकारिता लेखन एवं साहित्य से जुडे थे । हसमुख एवं मिलनसार व्यक्तितव मे मालिक श्री राजीव सारस्वत संबंदनशील कवि भी थे । महानगर मुंबई में वे राजभाषा हिन्दी प्रेमी के रूप में खासे लोकप्रिय थे । राजभाषा के क्षेत्र में उनका योगदान उल्लेखनीय रहा है । मुबई की कई साहित्यिक एवं सांस्कृतिक संस्थाओं केवे पदाधिकारी रहे हैं । वे एक अच्छे मंच संचालक के रूप में भी जाने जाते रहे हैं । विशेषकर प्रश्नमंच एवं क्विज जैसे कार्यक्रमों के संचालन में उन्हे महारत हासिल थी । ऐसे कार्यक्रमों के संचालन केलिए व मुंबई से बाहर भी बुलाए जाते रहे हैं ।
उन्होने छोटे- बडे लगभग दो सौ कार्यक्रमों का सफल संचालन किया , उनके आक्समिक निधन से न केवल एक हिन्दी प्रेमी वरन् एक उभरता हुआ रचनाकार संवेदनशील साहित्यकार खोगया है जिसकी क्षति लंबे समय तक महसूस की जाती रहेगी ।

उनके आक्समिक निधन पर महानगर की अनेक संस्थाओं ने गहरा दुख व्यक्त किया है और शोक संतृप्त परिवार के प्रति अपनी अश्रुपूरित श्रद्धांजलि प्रेषित की है जिनमें प्रमुख है - श्रुति संवाद साहितय कला अकादमी, नवी मुंबई, बतरत, वाग्धारा , हिन्दीप्रचार एवं शोध संस्थान, हिन्दी कंपयूटिंग फाउण्डेशन, आर्शीवाद, आदि ।

दूसरों की जिंदगियों से खेलने वालों की जब अपनी जान

दूसरों की जिंदगियों से खेलने वालों की जब अपनी जान पर बन आती है तो वह कैसे गिड़गिड़ाने लगते हैं, छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनल से गिफ्तार आतंकी ने कुछ यही दिखाया। सीएसटी पर हमला कर भाग रहे इस 18 साल के बांग्लादेशी युवक को पुलिस ने तुरंत धर दबोचा था। उसका साथी पुलिस की मुठभेड़ में मारा गया था। गोली लगने से घायल हुए इस आतंकी युवक को इलाज के लिए अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया। शुरुआत में तो वह कुछ नहीं बोला, लेकिन जब उसे अहसास हुआ कि उसका एक साथी मारा गया है तो वह बुरी तरह से टूट गया। इसके बाद वह लगा अपनी जान की भीख मांगने। उसने सुरक्षा बलों और मेडिकल स्टाफ के सामने गिड़गिड़ाना शुरू कर दिया। ' प्लीज मुझे बचा लो, मैं मरना नहीं चाहता। ' कुछ यही शब्द थे उसके। पुलिस ने जब उसकी तलाशी ली, तो उससे हथियार और मोबाइल फोन बरामद किया गया। यही नहीं छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनल में कैसे तबाही मचानी है, उसके पास इसका बाकायदा एक मास्टर प्लान मौजूद था। उसे करीब चार घंटे तक अस्पताल में रखा गया। डॉक्टरों ने उसके शरीर से गोली निकाली और सुरक्षा बलों को सौंप दिया। इसके बाद उसे अनजान जगह पर ले जाया गया। इस दौरान वह इतना डरा हुआ था कि वह फिर गिड़गिड़ाने लगा। लेकिन इस बार अपनी जान बचाने के लिए नहीं, बल्कि खुद को मार दिए जाने के लिए। वह सुरक्षा बलों से बार-बार कह रहा था, 'अब मैं जीना नहीं चाहता। मुझे मार दो।' मुंबई में आतंक की इबारत रखने वाले इतनी कम उम्र और फर्राटेदार अंग्रेजी बोलने वाले युवकों के शामिल होने से आतंक का एक नया चेहरा सामने आया है।

टूरिस्टों की एंट्री व एक्जिट को पूरी तरह रेगयुलेट करने को कहा है।

सूत्रों के मुताबिक केंद्रीय पर्यटन मंत्रालय ने होटेल इंडस्ट्री से होटेल
में आने वाले सभी टूरिस्टों की एंट्री व एक्जिट को पूरी तरह रेगयुलेट करने को कहा है। साथ ही होटेल के भीतर और परिसर में सिक्यूरिटी सिस्टम को अधिक मजबूत करने का भी सुझाव दिया है। सूत्रों का कहना है कि मुंबई के जिन होटेलों में आतंकवादी घुसे हैं, वहां सिक्यूरिटी बहुत ज्यादा कड़ी नहीं थी। एक रुटीन सिक्यूरिटी लागू रहती थी। होटेलों के अपने सिक्यूरिटी कंट्रोल रूम भी बहुत इफेक्टिव नहीं थे। सूत्रों का कहना है कि जरूरत के हिसाब से मुंबई सहित दिल्ली और अन्य राज्यों के सभी होटेलों में जनरल सिक्यूरिटी का इंतजाम रहता है। आतंकवादियों को यह बात मालूम थी कि वे इन तीनों होटेलों में बिना किसी प्रतिरोध के प्रवेश कर सकते हैं। आतंकवादियों ने बहुत ही प्लानिंग के साथ इन होटेलों को अपना टारगेट चुना। बताया जाता है कि होटेलों में घुसने के बाद इनका अपने आतंकवादी ग्रुप के साथ कम्यूनिकेशन भी आसानी से बना रहा, जिससे उन्हें अपने आतंकी इरादों को अंजाम देना और आसान हो गया। अब सुझाव है कि सभी लेवल के होटेल मैनिजमंट अपने होटलों की मुख्य लॉबी और हर फ्लोर पर रणनीतिक तरीके से क्लोज सर्किट कैमरे फिट करें ताकि किसी भी तरह की दुर्घटना रोकने में उनसे मदद मिल सके। बड़े होटेलों के अलार्म सिस्टम को पुलिस कंट्रोल रूम से जोड़ा जाए। इस बीच भारतीय पर्यटन विकास निगम (आईटीडीसी) के अशोक होटेल सहित सभी होटेलों में सिक्यूरिटी इंतजाम और मजबूत कर दिए गए हैं। अशोक होटेल, सम्राट होटेल और जनपथ होटेल में सभी प्रमुख बिंदुओं पर मेटल डिटेक्टर लगाए जा रहे हैं। सूत्रों का कहना है कि यहां तक कि आने वाले मेहमानों के समान को भी मेटल डिटेक्टर से पास कराने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। इसके साथ ही हर फ्लोर पर अलग से सिक्यूरिटी पर्सनल तैनात करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।

आतंक का मुकाबला करने में धर्म कहीं से आड़े नहीं आता।

मुंबई की आतंकी घटना ने पूरे देश को हिलाकर रख दिया है। लोगों को लग रहा
है कि जिहाद के नाम पर देश को बांटने की साजिश हो रही है। लेकिन फरीदाबाद के सेक्टर 48 में रहने वाले एक मुस्लिम परिवार ने यह साबित कर दिया है कि आतंक का मुकाबला करने में धर्म कहीं से आड़े नहीं आता। यह परिवार पिछले तीन दिनों से गौतम के परिजनों को संबल देने का काम कर रहा है। शमशाद का कहना है वह पड़ोसी धर्म का पालन कर रहे हैं। उनका कहना है कि आतंकी का किसी मजहब से वास्ता नहीं होता है। मुंबई में आतंकी हमले में मारे गए स्टूडंट गौतम गुसाईं के घर पर शमसाद अख्तर का परिवार गुरुवार सुबह से ही मौजूद है। ये लोग हर पल की तकलीफों को कम करने में जुटे हैं। इस परिवार ने मजहब को बांटने की कोशिश करने वालों को मेसिज दे दिया है कि वह कुछ भी कर लें अपने मंसूबे में कामयाब नहीं हो सकते। इस दुख की घड़ी में सेक्टर के लोग भी गुसाईं परिवार का दर्द बांटने के लिए साथ खड़े हैं। शुक्रवार को भी घर के बाहर सैकड़ों लोगों की भीड़ लगी रही। वहां मौजूद हर शख्स की जुबान पर सिर्फ गौतम का ही नाम था। शमसाद अख्तर कहते हैं कि इस दुख की घड़ी में वे गुसाईं परिवार के साथ खड़े हैं। जब उन्होंने गौतम के बारे में खबर सुनी फौरन देव सिंह गुसाईं के घर की तरफ दौड़ पड़े। घर के अंदर जब पहुंचे तो एक तरफ देव बेसुध पड़े थे, तो दूसरी तरफ उनकी पत्नी बदहवाश हालत में घर के अंदर इधर-उधर भटक रही थी। ऐसी हालत में उन्हें कुछ नहीं सूझ रहा था। इतने में उनकी पत्नी भी वहां आ गई। इससे उन्हें संभालने का मौका मिला। धीरे-धीरे उन्हें देव सिंह के परिचितों को घटना की जानकारी दी। वह कहते हैं कि उन्होंने मुंबई जाने की भी इच्छा थी, लेकिन कुछ लोगों ने यहां आए बाकी परिवार वालों का ध्यान रखने की बात कहकर रोक लिया।

आतंकवादियों ने हमले से पहले प्रमुख स्थलों की जानकारी प्राप्त की थी

ो ने दोपहर को बताया कि आतंकवादियों ने हमले से पहले प्रमुख स्थलों की जानकारी प्राप्त की थी और उन्हें होटल की इमारत की भी जानकारी थी। भारतीय नौसेना के प्रतिष्ठित मरीन कमांडो (मारकोस) ने कहा कि उनकी टीम को तीन से चार आतंकवादियों का आभास हुआ, जो संभवत: अलग-अलग तलों से हमले कर रहे थे। उन्हें ताज होटल की रचना के बारे में जानकारी थी, जहां वे करीब 40 घंटे से थे। कमांडो दल ने होटेल में 50 शव देखे। उन्होंने कहा, '12से 15 शव केवल एक कमरे में देखे गये।' काला स्कार्फ पहने और चश्मा लगाए हुए अज्ञात कमांडो ने संवाददाताओं से कहा, 'वे ऐसे किस्म के लोग थे, जिन्हें कोई पश्चाताप नहीं था। उनके सामने जो भी आया, उसे गोली मार दी।' उन्होंने बताया कि ताज होटल से भाग जाने में सफल रहे एक आतंकवादी के थैले से मॉरीशस के एक नागरिक का पहचान पत्र बरामद किया गया है। उन्होंने बताया कि आतंकवादी अलग-अलग मंजिलों से ग्रेनेड फेंक रहे थे और गोलियां चला रहे थे। अंधेरा होने के कारण उन्हें देखा नहीं जा सका और वे आसानी से काम कर रहे थे। मारकोस ने कहा, 'लाशें नीचे इधर-उधर पड़ी हुई थीं। हर तरफ खून था और इन नागरिकों को बचाने के लिए हमें काफी सतर्क रहना पड़ा था।' आतंकवादियों के पास जो हथियार थे, उन्हें चलाने के लिए इन्हें प्रशिक्षण दिया गया होगा। सभी लोग एके सीरीज के हथियार नहीं चला सकते।

नरीमन हाउस को आतंकवादियों से खाली करवा लिया गया है..यह घोषणा सुनते ही वहां मौजूद लोगों ने जय-जयकार शुरू कर दी। मुझे यकीन है टीवी के आगे बंधे बैठे पूरे मुल्क के बहुत सारे लोग उस जय-जयकार में शामिल थे। मैं नहीं था। चाहते हुए भी नहीं...बल्कि मुझे तो शर्म आ रही थी। मरीन हाउस के ' गौरवपूर्ण ' दृश्यों को दिखाते टीवी एंकर बोल रहे थे – यह गर्व की बात है , हमारे बहादुर जवानों ने आतंक पर एक जंग जीत ली है , नरीमन हाउस पर कब्जा हो गया है। नीचे न्यूज फ्लैश चल रहा था – नरीमन हाउस में आतंकियों का सफाया...दो आतंकी मारे गए...पांच बंधकों के भी शव मिले...एक एनएसजी कमांडो शहीद। किस बात पर गर्व करें ? पांच मासूम जानें और एक बेशकीमती सैनिक खो देने के बाद दो आतंकवादियों के सफाए पर ? 10-20-50 लोग मनचाहे हथियार और गोलाबारूद लेकर आपके देश में घुसते हैं। जहां चाहे बम फोड़ देते हैं। खुलेआम सड़कों पर फायरिंग करते हैं। आपकी बेहद आलीशान और सुरक्षित इमारतों पर कब्जा कर लेते हैं। आपकी पुलिस के सबसे बड़े ओहदों पर बैठे अफसरों को मार गिराते हैं। सैकड़ों लोगों को कत्ल कर देते हैं। आपके मेहमानों को बंधक बना लेते हैं। आपकी खेल प्रतियोगिताओं को बंद करवा देते हैं। आपके प्रधानमंत्री और बड़े-बड़े नेताओं की घिग्घी बांध देते हैं। तीन दिन तक आपके सबसे कुशल सैकड़ों सैनिकों के साथ चूहे-बिल्ली का खेल खेलते हैं और इसलिए मारे जाते हैं क्योंकि वे सोचकर आए थे...इसे आप जीत कहेंगे ? क्या यह गर्व करने लायक बात है ? आपको क्या लगता है , देश पर सबसे बड़ा आतंकी हमला करनेवाले आतंकवादियों को मारकर आतंक के खिलाफ यह जंग हमने जीत ली है ? हम इस जंग में बुरी तरह हार गए हैं। उन लोगों ने जो चाहा किया , जिसे चाहा मारा , जिस हद तक खींच सके खींचा। आपको क्या लगता है , बंधकों को सेना ने बचाया है ? जब वे होटलों में घुसे तो हजारों लोग उनके निशाने पर थे। वे चाहते तो सबको मार सकते थे। उनके पास इतना गोला-बारूद था कि ताज और ओबरॉय होटेलों का नाम-ओ-निशान तक नहीं बचता। लेकिन उन्होंने ऐसा नहीं किया। उन्होंने इंतजार किया कि पूरी दुनिया का मीडिया उनके आगे घुटने टेक कर और जमीन पर लेटकर यह दिखाने को मजबूर हो जाए कि वे क्या कर सकते हैं। उनकी चलाई एक-एक गोली पर रिपोर्टर्स चिल्ला-चिल्लाकर कह रहे थे – देखिए एक गोली और चली। इसे आप जीत कहेंगे ? यह देश पर सबसे बड़ा आतंकी हमला था...1993 के बम ब्लास्ट के बाद भी यही कहा गया था। जब वे हमारा जहाज कंधार उड़ा ले गए थे , तब भी यही कहा था। संसद पर हमला हुआ तब भी यह शब्द थे। अहमदाबाद को उड़ाया था , तब भी सब यही सोच रहे थे। दिल्ली , जयपुर , मुंबई लोकल...हर बार उनका हमला बड़ा होता गया...क्या लगता है अब इससे बड़ा हमला नहीं हो सकता ? बड़े आराम से होगा और हम तब भी यही कह रहे होंगे। क्या इसका इलाज अफजल की फांसी में है ? क्या इसका इलाज पाकिस्तान पर हमले में है ? क्या इसका इलाज पोटा में है ? आतंकियों ने अपने ई-मेल में लिखा था कि वे महाराष्ट्र एटीएस के मुसलमानों पर जुल्म का बदला ले रहे हैं। वे गुजरात का बदला ले रहे हैं। वे आजमगढ़ का बदला ले रहे हैं। वे धर्म के नाम पर लड़ रहे हैं। भले ही उनकी गोलियों से मुसलमान भी मरे , लेकिन वे मुसलमानों के नाम पर लड़ रहे हैं। शर्म आनी चाहिए उन मुसलमानों को जो इस लड़ाई को अपनी मानते हैं। लेकिन यूपी के किसी छोटे से शहर के कॉलेज में पढ़ने वाला 20-25 साल का मुस्लिम लड़का जब देखेगा कि आजमगढ़ से हुई किसी भी गिरफ्तारी को सही ठहरा देने वाले लोग कर्नल पुरोहित और दयानंद पांडे से चल रही पूछताछ पर ही सवाल उठा देते हैं , तो क्या वह धर्म के नाम पर हो रही इस लड़ाई से प्रभावित नहीं होगा ? क्या गुजरात को गोधरा की ' प्रतिक्रिया ' बताने वाले लोग मुंबई को गुजरात की प्रतिक्रिया मानने से इनकार कर पाएंगे ? और अब क्या इस प्रतिक्रिया की प्रतिक्रिया यह हो कि कुछ और मालेगांव किए जाएं ? और फिर जवाबी प्रतिक्रिया का इंतज़ार किया जाए ? फिर हिंदू प्रतिक्रिया हो... फिर...लेकिन क्या इससे आतंकवादी हमले बंद हो जाएंगे ? क्या इससे जंग जीती जा सकेगी ? जो लोग कहते हैं कि अफज़ल को फांसी हो जाती तो ऐसे हमले नहीं होते , वे भूल जाते हैं कि ये सारे आतंकवादी वे हैं जो जानते हैं कि वे इस ऑपरेशन में बच नहीं पाएंगे। वे मरने और मारने के लिए ही आए हैं। इसलिए यह कहना कि मौत का डर कुछ और लोगों को आतंकवादी बनने से रोक देगा , नादानी है। पाकिस्तान पर हमले की बात भी बचकानी है। जो यह कह रहे हैं , वे भारत को अमेरिका और पाकिस्तान को अफगानिस्तान समझ रहे हैं। यानी पाकिस्तान चूहा और हम शेर। जबकि हकीकत में दोनों सैन्य ताकत तकरीबन बराबर है। ऐटम बम दोनों के पास हैं और जैसे ही पहली गोली चलेगी , बाकी दुनिया दोनों को रोकने के लिए बीच में आ जाएगी। वैसे भी हम तब तक कोई कदम नहीं उठा सकते जब तक यह साफ न हो जाए कि जरदारी सरकार या पाक सेना डायरेक्टली इसमें शामिल है। इसलिए हमले से कुछ हासिल नहीं होगा जैसे कि पिछली तीन लड़ाइयों में कुछ हासिल नहीं हुआ। रही पोटा कानून की बात तो अगर आप मुंबई हमलों के पीछे की तैयारी की खबर पढ़ रहे होंगे तो आपको मालूम हो गया होगा कि गोला-बारूद गुजरात से होकर आया जहां नरेंद्र मोदी की राष्ट्रवादी पुलिस का राज चलता है। लेकिन राष्ट्रवाद का मतलब यह तो नहीं कि सारे नेता और पुलिस पैसों का महत्व भूल जाएं। तो जिस देश में आप 500 रुपये के बल पर पुलिस से कोई भी ट्रक पार करवा सकते हैं , वहां क्या यह हैरत की बात नहीं कि आतंकवादी घटनाएं इतनी कम कैसे होती हैं। वैसे भी जब पोटा था , तब भी आतंकवाद था , जब नहीं है , तब भी आतंकवाद है।

नरीमन हाउस को आतंकवादियों से खाली करवा लिया गया है..यह घोषणा सुनते ही वहां मौजूद लोगों ने जय-जयकार शुरू कर दी। मुझे यकीन है टीवी के आगे बंधे बैठे पूरे मुल्क के बहुत सारे लोग उस जय-जयकार में शामिल थे। मैं नहीं था। चाहते हुए भी नहीं...बल्कि मुझे तो शर्म आ रही थी। मरीन हाउस के ' गौरवपूर्ण ' दृश्यों को दिखाते टीवी एंकर बोल रहे थे – यह गर्व की बात है , हमारे बहादुर जवानों ने आतंक पर एक जंग जीत ली है , नरीमन हाउस पर कब्जा हो गया है। नीचे न्यूज फ्लैश चल रहा था – नरीमन हाउस में आतंकियों का सफाया...दो आतंकी मारे गए...पांच बंधकों के भी शव मिले...एक एनएसजी कमांडो शहीद। किस बात पर गर्व करें ? पांच मासूम जानें और एक बेशकीमती सैनिक खो देने के बाद दो आतंकवादियों के सफाए पर ? 10-20-50 लोग मनचाहे हथियार और गोलाबारूद लेकर आपके देश में घुसते हैं। जहां चाहे बम फोड़ देते हैं। खुलेआम सड़कों पर फायरिंग करते हैं। आपकी बेहद आलीशान और सुरक्षित इमारतों पर कब्जा कर लेते हैं। आपकी पुलिस के सबसे बड़े ओहदों पर बैठे अफसरों को मार गिराते हैं। सैकड़ों लोगों को कत्ल कर देते हैं। आपके मेहमानों को बंधक बना लेते हैं। आपकी खेल प्रतियोगिताओं को बंद करवा देते हैं। आपके प्रधानमंत्री और बड़े-बड़े नेताओं की घिग्घी बांध देते हैं। तीन दिन तक आपके सबसे कुशल सैकड़ों सैनिकों के साथ चूहे-बिल्ली का खेल खेलते हैं और इसलिए मारे जाते हैं क्योंकि वे सोचकर आए थे...इसे आप जीत कहेंगे ? क्या यह गर्व करने लायक बात है ? आपको क्या लगता है , देश पर सबसे बड़ा आतंकी हमला करनेवाले आतंकवादियों को मारकर आतंक के खिलाफ यह जंग हमने जीत ली है ? हम इस जंग में बुरी तरह हार गए हैं। उन लोगों ने जो चाहा किया , जिसे चाहा मारा , जिस हद तक खींच सके खींचा। आपको क्या लगता है , बंधकों को सेना ने बचाया है ? जब वे होटलों में घुसे तो हजारों लोग उनके निशाने पर थे। वे चाहते तो सबको मार सकते थे। उनके पास इतना गोला-बारूद था कि ताज और ओबरॉय होटेलों का नाम-ओ-निशान तक नहीं बचता। लेकिन उन्होंने ऐसा नहीं किया। उन्होंने इंतजार किया कि पूरी दुनिया का मीडिया उनके आगे घुटने टेक कर और जमीन पर लेटकर यह दिखाने को मजबूर हो जाए कि वे क्या कर सकते हैं। उनकी चलाई एक-एक गोली पर रिपोर्टर्स चिल्ला-चिल्लाकर कह रहे थे – देखिए एक गोली और चली। इसे आप जीत कहेंगे ? यह देश पर सबसे बड़ा आतंकी हमला था...1993 के बम ब्लास्ट के बाद भी यही कहा गया था। जब वे हमारा जहाज कंधार उड़ा ले गए थे , तब भी यही कहा था। संसद पर हमला हुआ तब भी यह शब्द थे। अहमदाबाद को उड़ाया था , तब भी सब यही सोच रहे थे। दिल्ली , जयपुर , मुंबई लोकल...हर बार उनका हमला बड़ा होता गया...क्या लगता है अब इससे बड़ा हमला नहीं हो सकता ? बड़े आराम से होगा और हम तब भी यही कह रहे होंगे। क्या इसका इलाज अफजल की फांसी में है ? क्या इसका इलाज पाकिस्तान पर हमले में है ? क्या इसका इलाज पोटा में है ? आतंकियों ने अपने ई-मेल में लिखा था कि वे महाराष्ट्र एटीएस के मुसलमानों पर जुल्म का बदला ले रहे हैं। वे गुजरात का बदला ले रहे हैं। वे आजमगढ़ का बदला ले रहे हैं। वे धर्म के नाम पर लड़ रहे हैं। भले ही उनकी गोलियों से मुसलमान भी मरे , लेकिन वे मुसलमानों के नाम पर लड़ रहे हैं। शर्म आनी चाहिए उन मुसलमानों को जो इस लड़ाई को अपनी मानते हैं। लेकिन यूपी के किसी छोटे से शहर के कॉलेज में पढ़ने वाला 20-25 साल का मुस्लिम लड़का जब देखेगा कि आजमगढ़ से हुई किसी भी गिरफ्तारी को सही ठहरा देने वाले लोग कर्नल पुरोहित और दयानंद पांडे से चल रही पूछताछ पर ही सवाल उठा देते हैं , तो क्या वह धर्म के नाम पर हो रही इस लड़ाई से प्रभावित नहीं होगा ? क्या गुजरात को गोधरा की ' प्रतिक्रिया ' बताने वाले लोग मुंबई को गुजरात की प्रतिक्रिया मानने से इनकार कर पाएंगे ? और अब क्या इस प्रतिक्रिया की प्रतिक्रिया यह हो कि कुछ और मालेगांव किए जाएं ? और फिर जवाबी प्रतिक्रिया का इंतज़ार किया जाए ? फिर हिंदू प्रतिक्रिया हो... फिर...लेकिन क्या इससे आतंकवादी हमले बंद हो जाएंगे ? क्या इससे जंग जीती जा सकेगी ? जो लोग कहते हैं कि अफज़ल को फांसी हो जाती तो ऐसे हमले नहीं होते , वे भूल जाते हैं कि ये सारे आतंकवादी वे हैं जो जानते हैं कि वे इस ऑपरेशन में बच नहीं पाएंगे। वे मरने और मारने के लिए ही आए हैं। इसलिए यह कहना कि मौत का डर कुछ और लोगों को आतंकवादी बनने से रोक देगा , नादानी है। पाकिस्तान पर हमले की बात भी बचकानी है। जो यह कह रहे हैं , वे भारत को अमेरिका और पाकिस्तान को अफगानिस्तान समझ रहे हैं। यानी पाकिस्तान चूहा और हम शेर। जबकि हकीकत में दोनों सैन्य ताकत तकरीबन बराबर है। ऐटम बम दोनों के पास हैं और जैसे ही पहली गोली चलेगी , बाकी दुनिया दोनों को रोकने के लिए बीच में आ जाएगी। वैसे भी हम तब तक कोई कदम नहीं उठा सकते जब तक यह साफ न हो जाए कि जरदारी सरकार या पाक सेना डायरेक्टली इसमें शामिल है। इसलिए हमले से कुछ हासिल नहीं होगा जैसे कि पिछली तीन लड़ाइयों में कुछ हासिल नहीं हुआ। रही पोटा कानून की बात तो अगर आप मुंबई हमलों के पीछे की तैयारी की खबर पढ़ रहे होंगे तो आपको मालूम हो गया होगा कि गोला-बारूद गुजरात से होकर आया जहां नरेंद्र मोदी की राष्ट्रवादी पुलिस का राज चलता है। लेकिन राष्ट्रवाद का मतलब यह तो नहीं कि सारे नेता और पुलिस पैसों का महत्व भूल जाएं। तो जिस देश में आप 500 रुपये के बल पर पुलिस से कोई भी ट्रक पार करवा सकते हैं , वहां क्या यह हैरत की बात नहीं कि आतंकवादी घटनाएं इतनी कम कैसे होती हैं। वैसे भी जब पोटा था , तब भी आतंकवाद था , जब नहीं है , तब भी आतंकवाद है।

"We are conducting checks at all the major five-star hotels in the state. Hotel authorities have been asked to tighten the security around their premises and keep their public announcement systems in proper condition," Joint Police Commissioner Ashish Bhatia, who is heading the probe into July 26 serial blasts here, said. The government had last night sounded high alert following the terror strikes in Mumbai in which at least 100 people have been killed so far. "The five-star hotel authorities have been asked to keep their CCTV system on and record all the activities in and around the premises. Big malls have also been asked to stay alert and beef up security," Bhatia said. "The police are conducting searches at major check points in the city and also at the borders connecting the state with Maharashtra," he added. Bhatia said the Mumbai terror attack was similar to the one at the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar in 2002 where 34 people were killed and 81 injured when two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists opened fire with automatic weapons and lobbed hand grenades inside the shrine. According to Bhatia, the modus operandi of the terrorists in Mumbai was similar to LeT operatives. It is suspected by security agencies that LeT, with the support of locals, may have carried out the attacks in the financial capital, he added.

मुंबई के कई इलाकों में छोटे-छोटे ग्रुपों में आतंकवादियों ने गोलियां और बम बरसाने शुरू कर दिए। छत्रपति शिवाजी स्टेशन, ताज और ओबरॉय होटेल, मेट्रो सिनेमा, डॉक, विले पार्ले समेत कई के कई इलाकों में एक ही समय पर हुई सीरियल गोलीबारी और विस्फोटों से पूरी मुंबई में अफरातफरी का माहौल है। इस हमले में अभी तक 100 लोग मारे गए हैं और सैकड़ों घायल हुए हैं। डेकन मुजाहिदीन ने इस हमले की जिम्मेदारी ली है। ताजा खबर हैः नरीमन हाउस से सेना ने बंधकों को छुड़ा लिया है। यहां आतंकवादियों ने पांच परिवारों को बंधक बना लिया था। ओबरॉय होटेल में अभी भी फायरिंग हो रही है। इस बीच खबर है कि ताज होटेल और गिरगांव में सेना ने 2-2 आतंकियों को मार गिराया है। अभी भी आतंकवादियों ने होटेल ताज, होटल ट्रिडंट और कामा अस्पताल में कई लोगों को बंधक बना रखा है। ताज होटेल में अभी भी 3-4 आतंकवादी होने की खबर है। काम अस्पताल के बारे में अभी तक स्थिति साफ नहीं हो पाई है। सेना ने रेस्क्यू ऑपरेशन अपने हाथ में ले लिया है। चश्मदीद लोगों के मुताबिक आतंकवादी विदेशी नागरिकों को निशाना बना रहे हैं। कुछ आतंकवादी चिल्ला-चिल्लाकर कह रहे थे कि किस-किस के पास ब्रिटिश और अमेरिकी पासपोर्ट है। इस बीच एनएसजी के करीब 200 कमांडो मुंबई पहुंच चुके हैं और जल्दी ही ओबरॉय होटेल में चल रही मुठभेड़ की कमान संभाल लेंगे। ओबरॉय होटेल में करीब 40 लोगों के बंधक होने की खबरें आ रही हैं। यहां अभी भी कुछ आतंकवादी मौजूद हैं। हालांकि इनकी तादाद का पता नहीं चल पाया है। ताज होटेल में सेना के एन्काउंटर ऑपरेशन में 2 आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया गया है। 9 संदिग्ध आतंकियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया है और 3 आतंकवादी भागने में कामयाब रहे हैं। ताज होटेल में ज़बर्दस्त आग लगने की खबर है। होटल में आतंकियों ने 7 ग्रेनेड फेंके हैं। इनमें से दो ग्रेनेड्स ने होटेल के गुंबदों को खासा नुकसान पहुंचाया है। सेना इस वक्त होटेल के अंदर है। यहां से अभी भी गोलीबारी की आवाज आ रही है। इससे पहले मुंबई रेलवे के पुलिस कमिश्नर ए. के. शर्मा ने बताया कि एके 47 राइफल और ग्रेनेड से लैस कुछ आतंकवादी भीड़भाड़ वाले छत्रपति शिवाजी टर्मिनस रेलवे स्टेशन के पैसिंजर हॉल में घुस गए और उन्होंने गोलीबारी शुरू कर दी। आतंकवादियों ने 2 हथगोले फेंके जिसमें 2 लोगों की मौत हो गई। फाइव स्टार होटेल ओबरॉय और ताज होटेल में आतंकवादियों ने कब्जा कर लिया और कई धमाके किए। ओबरॉय में दो आतंकवादियों के छिपे होने की पुष्टि हो चुकी है, जो भारी तादाद में गोलाबारूद से लैस हैं और लगातार हमले कर रहे हैं। इसी तरह ताज होटेल में भी आतंकवादी फायरिंग में तीन लोगों की मौत हो गई है। ताज होटेल से पुलिस ने 100 लोगों को छुड़ा लिया है। इस होटल में 7 विदेशी नागरिक भी बंधक बनाए गए थे। ताज होटेल में आग लगी है। ट्राइडंट होटेल में 40 लोगों के बंधक बनाए जाने की खबर है। पुलिस के मुताबिक आतंकवादियों की 16 टीमों ने सुनियोजित ढंग से किए हमले किए है। मशीनगनों और हैंड ग्रेनेडों का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। पहला हमला बुधवार रात 9:40 बजे कोलाबा में हुआ। कई जगह पुलिस पर भी फायरिंग की गई। आतंकवादियों ने 16 जगहों पर मशीनगनों और हैंड ग्रेनेडों से हमले किए। कई जगह धमाकों की आवाजें भी सुनी गईं। जे. जे. स्कूल ऑफ आर्ट्स में भी फायरिंग हुई है। कोलाबा के डॉकयार्ड में एक बोट मिली है जिसके बारे में अनुमान लगाया जा रहा है कि आतंकवादियों ने इसका इस्तेमाल किया है। वाडी बंदर इलाके में एक टैक्सी में जबर्दस्त ब्लास्ट हुआ। ये ब्लास्ट बंबई म्युनिसिपल कॉरपोरेशन (बीएमसी) के मुख्यालय और छत्रपति शिवाजी टमिर्नल के बाहर भी हुए। मुंबई पुलिस ने सीएसटी रेलवे स्टेशन के आसपास घेराबंदी कर दी है। वीटी स्टेशन से जाने वाली ट्रेनों को रोक दिया गया है। वीटी स्टेशन के बाहर फायरिंग जारी है। एक जगह पुलिस वैन पर भी ग्रेनेड से हमला किया गया। मुंबई के सबसे पॉपुलर इलाके नरीमन पॉइंट में दो ब्लास्ट हुए हैं।

Mumbai: In one of the most violent terror attacks on Indian soil, Mumbai came under an unprecedented night attack as terrorists used heavy machine Dome of Taj hotel in flames in Mumbai after the terror attack guns, including AK-47s, and grenades to strike at the city's most high-profile targets -- the hyper-busy CST (formerly VT) rail terminus; the landmark Taj Hotel at the Gateway and the luxury Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point; the domestic airport at Santa Cruz; the Cama and GT hospitals near CST; the Metro Adlabs multiplex and Mazgaon Dockyard -- killing at least 80 and sending more than 900 to hospital, according to latest reports. The attacks have taken a tragic toll on the city's top police brass: The high-profile chief of the anti-terror squad Hemant Karkare was killed; Mumbai's additional commissioner of police (east) Ashok Kamte was gunned down outside the Metro; and celebrated encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar was also killed. ( Watch ) The attacks appeared to be aimed at getting international attention as the terrorists took upto 40 British nationals and other foreigners hostage. The chairman of Hindustan Unilever Harish Manwani and CEO of the company Nitin Paranjpe were among the guests trapped at the Oberoi. All the internal board members of the multinational giant were reported to be holed up in the Oberoi hotel. Two terrorists were reported holed up inside the Oberoi Hotel. Fresh firing has been reported at Oberoi and Army has entered the hotel to flush out the terrorists. An unknown outfit, Deccan Mujahideen, has sent an email to news organizations claiming that it carried out the Mumbai attacks. The Army and Navy in Mumbai were put on alert. 65 Army commandos and 200 NSG commandos were being rushed to Mumbai, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said. The Navy commandos too have been asked to assist the police. Special secretary M L Kumawat is in constant touch with the state police. Some media reports attributed the attack to Lashkar-e-Taiba. There were also unconfirmed reports that some of the terrorists came in by sea. A boat laden with explosives was recovered later at night off the Gateway of India. Well after midnight, sources said two of the terrorists were shot and wounded at Girgaum in south Mumbai. The two were driving in a commandeered silver-coloured Skoda car. Earlier, these men had sprayed bullets from a police Bolero, outside the Metro Adlabs multiplex. The attacks occurred at the busiest places. Besides hotels and hospitals, terrorists struck at railway stations, Crawford Market, Wadi Bunder and on the Western Express Highway near the airport. Several of these places are within a one-km radius of the commissioner of police's office. "This is definitely a terrorist strike. Seven places have been attacked with automatic weapons and grenades. Terrorists are still holed up in three locations Taj and Oberoi hotels and GT Hospital. Encounters are on at all three places," said Maharashtra DGP A N Roy. St George's Hospital and G T Hospital were said to have received 75 bodies and more than 250 injured people, additional municipal commissioner R A Rajeev said. Bombay Hospital got two bodies and 30 injured people were admitted there; Cooper Hospital, Vile Parle, got three dismembered bodies. Three of the deaths occurred inside the Taj and one G T Hospital attendant died in a shootout inside the hospital. There were reports of people cowering under tables and chairs at both the Taj as well as G T Hospital. Metro Junction resident Manoj Goel said: "My brother, Manish, died in the firing at Colaba's Hamaal Galli." Cops fired back at the men -- probably from one of the Lashkar groups, dressed in black and with backpacks and SRPF, Crime Branch, ATS and teams of military commandos were summoned to the spot. Train services at CST were suspended and all roads leading to and from south Mumbai were blockaded. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh cut short his Kerala visit and was returning to Mumbai. He described the situation in Mumbai as "very serious". Deshmukh promised "stringent action" against the assailants but the mood across Mumbai was not so optimistic.

According to reports, farmers had been staging a relay hunger strike against non-payment of sugarcane dues in Muzaffarnagar. Around 50 farmers were staging hunger strike outside Ganna Samiti in Khatauli tehsil of the district on Monday night when condition of 62-year-old Sukhpal of Rajpur Kala village suddenly deteriorated. He was immediately rushed to the Sushila Jaswant Rao Hosptial in Meerut where the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. The incident sparked off widespread resentment among protesting farmers. Hearing about the news thousands of farmers gathered at the Ganna Samiti office and blamed authorities and mill owners for Sukhpal’s death. On Tuesday morning, Mahendra Singh Tikait’s son Rakesh Tikait too joined the agitation. The farmers were adamant on performing the last rites of Sukhpal only after their demands was met. However, the district magistrate Subhash Chandra intervened and assured the farmers of an ex gratia of Rs five lakh to Sukhpal’s kins and a government job to one of his family members

29 by a court here in connection with a case of procuring an arms license using fake documents. Purohit, who was arrested by the Nashik crime branch on Tuesday, was produced before Joint Civil Judge V V Joshi where police

custody was sought. The case against Purohit had been registered by Pune resident Shirish Date in the Sarkarwada police station in Nashik on November 16. Date, a family friend of Purohit, stated in his complaint that a license for a gun had been obtained for him by the army officer. The Pune resident claimed fake documents showing him as a resident of the military camp in Devlali were used to obtain the arms license for him. The Nashik police took custody of Purohit on Monday after moving an application before the special MCOCA court conducting the trial in the Malegaon blast case. Earlier, the Pune ATS had taken the custody of Purohit for providing an arms license using fake documents to a relative of Date. Another accused in the Malegaon blast, Sudhakar Chaturvedi is also alleged to have obtained a country-made revolver from Purohit. Eleven persons, including Purohit, have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in carrying out the September 29 blast in Malegaon which left six dead and over 80 injured

ी ध्रुवीकरण के लिए कमर कस चुका है। इस काम में सबसे अहम साबित हो रहा है साध्वी का वह हलफनामा जो उन्होंने अपने वकील के जरिए नासिक कोर्ट में 17 नवंबर को पेश किया था। गौरतलब है कि इसी हलफनामे को पढ़ने के बाद बीजेपी के पीएम इन वेटिंग लालकृष्ण आडवाणी ने एटीएस टीम बदले जाने और निष्पक्ष जुडिशल इन्क्वायरी की मांग की थी। बीजेपी ने साध्वी के हलफनामे को अपनी वेबसाइट www.bjp.org पर भी पोस्ट कर दिया है। संघ की विचारधारा और योजना के तहत काम कर रहे कई संगठन भी इसे प्रसारित कर रहे हैं। हलफनामे को इन संगठनों द्वारा मुस्लिम तुष्टीकरण के विरोध में तैयार की जा रही प्रचार सामग्री में इस्तेमाल किए जाने की भी तैयारी है। विदेश में काम कर रहे कई रिसर्च स्कॉलरों और संघ परिवार समर्थकों को भी हलफनामा भेजा गया है। मकसद है सरकार पर हिंदुओं के उत्पीड़न और हिंदू आतंकवाद का छद्म हौवा खड़ा करने का आरोप लगाना। हलफनामे में साध्वी ने एटीएस पर रात-दिन मारपीट करने, चरित्र पर उंगली उठाने और 12 दिन तक गैरकानूनी रूप से हिरासत में रखने के आरोप लगाए हैं। उधर एक न्यूज चैनल ने सूत्रों के हवाले से दावा किया है कि पूछताछ के दौरान दबाव बनाने के लिए पुलिस ने साध्वी को अश्लील सीडी सुनाई और उन्हें निर्वस्त्र करने की भी धमकी दी। शुरू में बीजेपी प्रेजिडेंट राजनाथ सिंह ने कहा था कि मैं साध्वी से व्यक्तिगत रूप से परिचित नहीं हूं। किसी सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रम में मिला था। बाद में पार्टी के सुर बदल गए। सिंह ने कहा कि साधु संतों और सेना का अपमान नहीं बर्दाश्त किया जाएगा। आडवाणी ने और भी कड़े तेवर अपनाए। एनडीए शासनकाल के दौरान हिंदूवादी संगठनों से प्रत्यक्ष दौर पर दूरी बनाए रखने वाली बीजेपी ने पानीपत में विश्वहिंदू परिषद के बैनर तले हुए संत समागम में शिरकत की और आंदोलन को आगे बढ़ाने के पक्ष में रुख दिखाया। इसी का नतीजा है कि ईमेल और दूसरी प्रचारात्मक सामग्री के जरिए साध्वी मसले को ज्यादा से ज्यादा लोगों तक पहुंचाया जा रहा है। कई ब्लॉग्स पर भी साध्वी का हलफनामा पोस्ट किया गया है। इसमें उनके साथ मारपीट और अश्लील व्यवहार को खास तौर पर हाईलाइट किया गया है। इसी टोन का एक एसएमएस, 'वाह इंडिया वाह, अफजल को माफी, साध्वी का फांसी, आरएसएस पर प्रतिबंध और सिमी के साथ अनुबंध अमरनाथ यात्रा पर लगान और हज के लिए अनुदान, जागो हिंदू जागो' भी सर्कुलेशन में है। इस तरह की प्रचार सामग्री में प्राथमिक स्त्रोत को तलाशना मुमकिन नहीं है। ऐसे में बड़ी आसानी से राजनैतिक जवाबदेही से भी बचा जा सकता है। बीजेपी के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने इस मसले पर पहले तो कहा कि हलफनामा पब्लिक प्रॉपर्टी है। यह पूछे जाने पर कि किसी आरोपी का हलफनामा राजनीतिक संगठन के वेबसाइट पर पोस्ट करने का क्या मकसद हो सकता है, उन्होंने व्यस्तता का हवाला देकर फोन काट दिया।

The ATS sought the custody of the trio contending their interrogation was needed to find out the "sinister design of Hindu radical group Abhinav Bharat, which appears to be instrumental in promoting, advocating and inciting unlawful and terrorist activities". However, Special MCOCA Judge Y D Shinde rejected the ATS plea and instead sent them as also four other accused in judicial custody till December 3. All the seven accused who were produced before the court claimed that they were physically and mentally tortured by ATS in custody. Clad in a saffron outfit with vermilion on her forehead, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur told the court that she has been mentally and physically harassed by ATS. "ATS officials threatened to strip me and hang me upside down if I did not confess about my involvement in the blast. I am mentally disturbed and not able to eat anything," Sadhvi told the judge. Purohit said he had been hung upside down from a rod and his hands were tied to two poles due to which he has lost sensation from his wrist to his fingers. "ATS while questioning me said that it would plant RDX in my house and that it would be very easy for it to kill me in an encounter," Purohit told the court

'हिंदू आतंकवाद' का नारा देकर कांग्रेस खतरनाक राजनीति कर रही है।

व के पहले 'हिंदू आतंकवाद' का नारा देकर कांग्रेस खतरनाक राजनीति कर रही है। संघ के एक कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने आए सुदर्शन ने रविवार को लखनऊ में पत्रकारों से कहा कि हिंदू आतंकवाद का कोई मतलब नहीं है। यह शब्द सिर्फ बहुसंख्यकों के खिलाफ एक षडयंत्र मात्र है। लोकसभा का चुनाव नजदीक है। केंद्र सरकार ने आम जनता के लिए कुछ नहीं किया है, इसलिए अब वह लोगों का ध्यान बंटाने के लिए हिंदू आतंकवाद का मसला उछाल रही है। आतंकवाद का धर्म से कोई रिश्ता नहीं। आतंकवादी न हिंदू होते हैं और न मुस्लिम या ईसाई। वे अमानवीय कृत्य करने वाले होते हैं। उनका काम केवल निर्दोषों को मारना होता है। सुदर्शन ने देश में बहुसंख्यकों की सामाजिक, आर्थिक और धार्मिक स्थिति पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला। बगैर किसी का नाम लिए उन्होंने कहा कि अमरनाथ श्राइनबोर्ड के जमीन मामले में चले आंदोलन ने हिंदुओं और राष्ट्रवादियों का मान बढ़ाया। जम्मू में हिंदू और मुसलमानों ने मिलकर इस मामले को उठाया था। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि अपने देश की परिवारिक संरचना ने दुनिया में चल रही आर्थिक मंदी के कुप्रभाव से हमें बचा लिया है। पर साथ ही, अमेरिका को 56 हजार करोड़ रुपये देने के लिए केंद्र सरकार को कड़ी फटकार लगाई। ग्रामीण विकास के मुद्दे पर उन्होंने कहा कि महात्मा गांधी को इसकी चिंता थी, पर जवाहर लाल नेहरू द्वारा इस क्षेत्र में उठाए गए कदमों ने देश के सामने आज कई समस्याएं खड़ी कर दी हैं। ग्रामीण विकास को लेकर नेहरू की नीतियां ठीक नहीं थीं और इसी वजह से ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों का समुचित विकास नहीं हो सका। नेहरू ने तब दलील दी थी कि पश्चिमी देशों से प्रतिस्पर्द्धा के लिए औद्योगिकीकरण जरूरी है और ग्रामीण विकास के बजाय उन्होंने बडे़ उद्योगों की स्थापना पर ज्यादा जोर दिया है।

ा अगले लोकसभा चुनाव में पार्टी उम्मीदवार बनाने पर विचार कर रही है। पार्टी के एक सूत्र ने कहा कि हालांकि इस बारे में अभी कोई फैसला नहीं किया गया है लेकिन अगर उन्हें उम्मीदवार बनाया जाता है तो किसी को आश्चर्य नहीं होना चाहिए। माना जा रहा है कि मराठी बनाम बाहरी के मुद्दे पर राज ठाकरे की महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना से पिछड़ती दिख रही शिवसेना को लगता है कि पुरोहित को उम्मीदवार बनाए जाने से उसकी हिंदुत्ववादी पार्टी की छवि और मजबूत होगी। शिवसेना शुरू से ही मालेगांव ब्लास्ट के आरोपियों का खुलकर बचाव करती रही है। हाल ही में पार्टी ने जनहित याचिका दायर करके मालेगांव ब्लास्ट की जांच एटीएस से वापस लेकर सीआईडी को सौंपे जाने की मांग की है। इसके अलावा नासिक कोर्ट में आरोपियों की पेश के दौरान भी शिवसेना के कार्यकर्ता भारी संख्या में मौजूद थे और पुरोहित व साध्वी प्रज्ञा के समर्थन में नारे लगा रहे थे। शिवसेना रिटायर्ड पुलिस अधिकारी सचिन वाजे को भी टिकट देने पर विचार कर रही है। ख्वाजा युनूस की पुलिस कस्टडी में मौत के मामले में आरोपी सचिन वाजे ने पिछले महीने शिवसेना जॉइन कर ली थी।

लालू यादव ने उन अस्थाई कर्मचारियों को रेल भवन में स्थाई करने की घोषणा की थी। अफसोस है कि आज तक उस घोषणा पर कोई अमल नहीं हुआ।

कोई मंत्री अगर गरीबों को सपना दिखाते हैं, तो उसे हकीकत मे बदलने की ज़िम्मेदारी भी उन्हीं की होती है। रेल मंत्री जी ने रेल भवन में पिछले कई वर्षों से काम करने वाले अस्थाई कर्मचारियों के पक्ष में कुछ कहा था। लालू यादव ने उन अस्थाई कर्मचारियों को रेल भवन में स्थाई करने की घोषणा की थी। अफसोस है कि आज तक उस घोषणा पर कोई अमल नहीं हुआ। शायद मंत्री जी भूल चुके होंगे और उनके आदेश की उन्हीं के मंत्रालय में यह दुर्दशा कहां तक उचित है? रेल भवन को विश्वस्तरीय भवनों के रूप में बनाने से ही इन कर्मचारियों का पेट नहीं भर जाएगा। पेट भरता है रोटी से और आदमी की आय होगी तभी भर पेट खा सकेगा न! अतः रेल मंत्री से अनुरोध है कि बरसों पहले अपने दिए उस आदेश को जल्द से जल्द लागू करवाएं। यह उदाहरण केवल एकनहीं अनेकों है । सन् २००६ में रेल राज्यमंत्री नारण भाई राठवा ने हिन्दी कंप्यूटिग फाउण्डेशन के एक समारोह में न्यायमूर्ति चन्द्रशेखर धर्माधिकारी जी की उपस्थिति में एक लाख रूपये का पुरस्कार घोषित किया था, जिसकेलिए पश्चिम रेलवे के महाप्रबंधक ने रेलवे बोर्ड को लिखा भी है , परन्तु आज तक वह पुरस्कार नहीं दिया गया, बताया जाता है कि रेलवे बोर्ड के हिन्दी विभाग का तो भगवान ही मालिक है, वहां हिन्दी के बजाय कुछ ओर ही खेल खेला जाता है । इसी खेल में यह पुरस्कार खो गया है, हमें उम्मीद है कि रेल मत्री इस बारे में पूरी जांच करायेगे और दोषी अधिकारियों को सख्त सजा देने पर विचार करेंगे क्योकि इस प्रकार के कार्य से रेलवे की छवि बिगडती है ।

The editorial said Prasad has a "serpent's grip" on railways preventing Marathis to get a job in the recent times. "Intermittently, Lalu gets this fit of national integration as in the latest case when he says he belongs to Maharashtra and Maharashtra belongs to him. He now has got a chance to prove that he belongs to Maharashtra. He should allow the 'Shiv vada pav' stalls promoted by the Sena to be set up at railway stations," it said. "Lalu would have to provide Marathi youth only space needed for a table to set up these stalls which would help 5,000 youth get employment," the editorial said. "Also, vada from Maharashtra and someone from outside Maharashtra cooking it won't do. Give similar stalls for 'dhokla' in Gujarat and 'idli-sambar' in South India to locals there," it said. If Lalu wants to taste our vada pav, he is welcome to visit the 'Shiv vada pav sammelan’ organised by Sena at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, the editorial added

Act, Delhi police say Dwarka is the capital's most unsafe area and the congested Jama Masjid neighbourhood is its safest. Records available to this paper show that the five most crime-infested police areas are in the south-western and outer districts. The central and northern districts, which include old Delhi, are the safest. Sociologists say this is because these areas often have a stronger sense of community. Dwarka heads the list of five police stations with the highest rates of crime. It is followed by Rohini, Malviya Nagar, Najafgarh and Sultanpuri . The list consists of a comparison of all police stations and the number of FIRs filed in them till October. The only drawback of this league table is that Jamia Nagar police station, which was started a year ago, is being compared with Sarojini Nagar, Delhi's oldest police station. The 10 police stations with the lowest crime rates are: Jama Masjid, Gulabi Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Bara Hindu Rao, Maurice Nagar, Chandni Mahal, Jaffar Pur Kalan, Hauz Quazi, Lahori Gate and Farsh Bazar. Delhi has 148 police stations in 11 police districts. But 133 existed when the RTI was filed. The data excludes the 12 new police stations.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, in limelight for 'hijacking' Shiv Sena's 'Marathi pride' agenda, on Sunday met his
uncle and Sena chief Bal Thackeray, their first meeting since he left the Sena and launched MNS in 2006. MNS sources maintained that Raj met the octogenarian leader at Matoshree, the latter's residence in suburban Bandra, to enquire about his health but the meeting has fuelled speculations. "There will be an impact within cadres of Sena and MNS over the uncle-nephew meeting", MNS sources said. Raj, who looks and even speaks like his illustrious uncle, was tipped to succeed him. However, it is cousin Uddhav who now manages the party. The last time Raj met the senior Thackeray was on January 23, 2006, the Sena chief's birthday. "I went to meet him today to return some of his old books I still had with me. We spoke about cartoons old memories," Raj, who like his uncle is a cartoonist of repute, said. "We spoke on topics other than politics," Raj said. Uddhav, following differences with whom Raj quit Sena and floated MNS, was present at the meeting. Raj said he got a call from his uncle in the morning today asking him to send some old books to Matoshree. "I offered to carry the books and accordingly drove to Matoshree," Raj said. "I am happy at meeting him after such a long gap," Raj said. Two years ago, Bal Thackeray had publicly admonished Raj in a Sena meeting that he should stop evoking his name and using his photographs. "You have left Sena. You have no right to use my photo," the Sena chief had told Raj. The only communication between the uncle and nephew in the last two years has been the occasional phone call and exchange of bouquets on birthdays. Raj had on December 18, 2005 announced that he was quitting the Sena and formed MNS in 2006. Raj had quit all Sena posts on November 27, 2005 by launching a scathing attack on Uddhav and his cronies, saying a 'coterie of clerks was running the Sena'. PUNE: Prime accused in Malegaon blast case Lt Col Srikant Prasad Purohit on Friday made a written submission in a court here alleging that Mumbai
ATS threatened to eliminate him in an encounter and tried to extract confession from him under duress. ( Watch ) Purohit, remanded in 14-day judicial custody by Magistrate G G Italekar in a 2003 case of alleged forgery in procuring an arms license for one Milind Date from Jammu & Kashmir, in Pune, sat in the court room to write his grievances after the judge asked him whether he had any complaints regarding his two-day police remand which expired today. "I have no complaints against Pune police. But I want to submit in writing my grievances," he said. Purohit's advocate Srikant Shivde told the court that the accused did not want to air his grievances in an open court and would prefer to put them in writing. The contents of Purohit's written submission were informed by his lawyer to the media afterwards. Shivde told mediapersons that in the written submission to the court, Purohit has given details of the "pressure and physical and mental torture" he was subjected to by Mumbai ATS which tried to "extract confession forcibly" from him in regard to involvement in the September 29 blast. Purohit also complained of an "encounter" threat by ATS, the defence lawyer said. Earlier, the prosecution made a plea for seven-day police custody of Purohit to unravel his connections in Jammu and Kashmir and further investigate whether he was part of a gang that procured illegal arms and forged licences from the military quota. The defence counsel Shivde consented to three-day police custody. He also alleged his client would be framed in another case immediately after being taken to Nashik court and his police custody would continue till November 29 till he is produced before Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in Mumbai. All the ten accused arrested so far in the blast were yesterday booked under stringent law MCOCA. "My client will be safer in police custody than in the ATS custody," he remarked. The magistrate, however, rejected the prosecution demand for police custody and remanded Purohit to judicial custody. Purohit will now be taken to Nashik and put in the central prison there. On a plea from the accused, the judge allowed him to carry medicines and some books along with him to Nashik. The defence counsel told the court that Purohit was vulnerable to attacks of asthma and needed certain medication in his possession. Purohit's wife Aparna, too, was present in the court. Six persons were killed in the blast in the powerloom town in North Maharashtra's Nashik district.

RAMESWARAM: Ram Setu, the mythical bridge which got embroiled in a controversy over the Sethusamudram project, is back in news. This time for the
trade of coral rocks, considered to be a part of the holy structure. Droves of pilgrims here are buying coral rocks being sold by the agents and tourist guides, who claim that the rocks were a part of the bridge built by the 'Vanara Sena' for Lord Ram to crossover to Lanka to rescue Sita. "Pilgrims visiting this temple town buy these stones thinking that they are from the Ram bridge. But they are actually coral rocks," an official of the Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park said. As coral rocks tend to float naturally, pilgrims believe that the rocks are the ones used by Rama's army and buy it, he said. Despite a ban on the trade of coral rocks under the Wild Life and Marine Life Protection Acts, they are being sold at five places -- 'Seetha Theertham,' 'Ram Theertham,' 'Lakshman Theertham,' 'Kandhamadhanaparvam' and at an ashram -- in the island at rates varying between Rs 500 and Rs 1000 per piece, he said. Gopinathan, a tourist guide, said they get a nominal commission for each stone sold through them. The stones were even presented to VIPs visiting the island, stating that it was auspicious to keep them at home, he said. According to officials here, many marine species like sea horse, turtles and dugong, whose sale is prohibited under the Marine Life Protection Act, are also being sold openly. Denying receiving any complaint about sale of coral rocks in the area, Gulf of Mannar Marine National park officials say they are not in a position to monitor such a vast coastal belt but they would look into the matter. The 'Ram Setu' (Adams Bridge) has been in the limelight after BJP and its allied outfits protested the present alignment of the Sethusamudram project, charging that it would damage the mythical structure. Following the protest, dredging of the bridge has been stopped and the case is being heard in the Supreme Court which has suggested that the government explore alternative site for the project. The Sethusamudram project aims to create a navigable channel from the Gulf of Mannar to the Bay of Bengal through the Palk bay and Palk Straits

केन्द्र सरकार के कर्मचारियों की सेवानिवृत्ति आयु को ६० साल से बढाकर ६२ किए जाने की सारी अटकलों को विराम देते हुए केन्द्र सरकार ने रविवार, १६ नवम्बर को स्पष्ट कर दिया की सेवानिवृत्ति की आयु सीमा बढ़ाने की कोई योजना नहीं है। कैबिनेट सचिव के। एम्। चंद्रशेखर ने इस बारे में कहा की ऐसी कोई योजना विचाराधीन नहीं है और इस तरह का कोई विचार सरकार द्वारा नहीं किया जा रहा है, यथास्थिति बनी रहेगी । उन्होंने कहा की इसमें वृद्धि की ऐसी अटकलें जरूर हैं लेकिन उनमें कोई सचाई नहीं है। उन्होंने कहा की इससे सम्बंधित कोई भी फाइल व्यय या DOPT में भी नहीं है। मैंने इस बारे में पता लगाने की कोशिश की थी मगर ऐसा कुछ भी पता नहीं चला है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा की राज्य सरकारों के कर्मचारियों की सेवानिवृत्ति आयु को समान करने की भी कोई योजना नहीं है।

NEW DELHI: The Sangh Parivar on Sunday openly came out in support of the Malegaon blast accused, calling investigation into the September 29 blast a

"political conspiracy". It also announced the launch of a mass campaign against the UPA for its "vilification of Hindu saints and army officers in the name of Hindu terrorism".

The stand was finalised at a conclave in Panipat which was attended by 13 akharas — sects of sadhus — who are to launch a mass mobilisation campaign against the "anti-Hindu conspiracy" on November 26 in New Delhi, according to agency reports.

The campaign is likely to be conducted under the banner of Dharm Sangrakshan Samiti and will feature 250 'saints' from the akharas. This will, logically, work for the BJP in the state polls and, later, Lok Sabha elections.

Those at the meeting included Baba Ramdev, Swami Hans Das of Akhara Parishad and VHP's Praveen Togadia. The conclave was marked by an overt effort to reach out to Army officials in the aftermath of the arrests of Lt-Col Shrikant Purohit and several retired officers.

The organisers lumped the Army officers and the arrested 'saints' together, calling them "victims" of insults by the government.

MUMBAI: Raj Thackeray is now in the midst of a birthday cake controversy that has given a new twist to the Marathi-speaking versus north Indians
issue in the state. Raj allegedly cut a cake bearing the word ‘Bhaiya’ in Hindi on his birthday last June 14 in Mumbai, a video clip of which was leaked out on Friday. ‘Bhaiya” meaning elder brother, is the term by which people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are generally referred to in the city. The video clip, shot by an unknown person from a mobile phone has both mystified and embarrassed the party as it was repeatedly flashed across television channels on Friday afternoon. Top office-bearers of his Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) fumbled for a convincing explanation at the sudden development, which has caught the party by surprise. “We have a lot of north Indian activists in the MNS and it must have been brought by one such activist, but we cannot recollect who,” party vice-president Vageesh Saraswat said on Friday afternoon. He claimed that the word ‘Bhaiya’ on the cake probably meant that Raj Thackeray was like the elder brother of the person who presented it, and “it should not be construed that we are against north Indians.” “Moreover, something is always inscribed on any cake as per the occasion. This time, it was ‘Bhaiya’ since a north Indian party worker brought the cake. It was not intended to spread hatred against anybody,” Saraswat emphasised. He reiterated that the party’s agitation was concerning opportunities for Marathi-speaking people and not against north Indians settled in the state. Raj cut the colourfully decorated birthday cake at a small party attended by family and friends in his Shivaji Park home. The video clip shows him making two diagonal slashes across the cake, instead of gently cutting it in the traditional fashion. Saraswat claims that “the video may have been tampered to convey a certain impression” and questioned the motives behind leaking it exactly five months after the birthday party. It may be recalled that last February and then in October, the MNS had launched violent agitations against north Indians living or working in Mumbai. The episode finally culminated in Raj's arrest, with him spending a night in police lock-up and being subsequently released on bail. The MMS clip was released to the press by Samajwadi Party MLA from Madhya Pradesh Kishore Samrite. The Samajwadi MLA compared Raj Thackeray's decision to use a sword instead of a knife to cut the cake, to "an attempt to wipe off the north Indians".

PATNA: The railways have launched `winter safety’ drive in the Danapur division of East Central Railway (ECR) from November 7 to ensure foolproof

safety to passengers. A comprehensive plan has been chalked out to make the safety drive a great success. The drive will continue till January 2009 and it will be extended further depending on severity of the weather condition prevailing in the division, said senior divisional safety officer (senior DSO) of Danapur division B N P Verma. According to him, the railways have identified the fog-prone stations located mainly on the mainline section of the division. These stations are mostly in the Tal area at Mokama and in between Neora and Buxar stations. However, a recent survey carried out in the division revealed that about 40 per cent stations of Danapur division are fog-affected. The railways have thus concentrated more on stepping up winter safety measures in these areas, he said. Under the safety plan, the railways have installed flasher lights and retro-reflective posts at each vulnerable station in the division. The visibility test objects (VTOs) and track falling lines have been painted in fog-prone areas. Since the mainline section of the division has been fully electrified from Mughalsarai to Jhajha, there is the need to maintain extra alertness on the tracks from safety point of view, the senior DSO said. According to Verma, the railways had recently launched a safety drive in the division mainly to check winter safety preparation work. During this period, counselling of both drivers and guards of the trains was held in the division so that these operating staff were aware of the winter safety measures, he said. The senior DSO said the division has fully ensured now that the operating staff must read winter safety rules first and then resume their duty. While supervisors of the safety wing will strictly monitor safety measures from 10 pm to 6 am each day in the Danapur control room, the railways have asked both officials and inspectors to do `foot plating’ on the locomotives of the trains during night, he said, adding the maximum speed limit of each train will be 60 kmph during the foggy condition. According to Danapur PRO R K Singh, the railways have plenty of `detonators’ (fog signals) in stock to use them in emergency during foggy weather condition. These fog signals have been duly supplied to each vulnerable station falling under the division. Besides, fog signal men have been also deployed on duty at each affected station to maintain full winter safety, he said, adding that the railways have set up a committee in the division to implement fully safety measures in the division. According to the PRO, the railways have put key men on high alert, particularly in the night. They have been asked to carry out track patrolling work especially at all vulnerable places, including bridges, from the safety point of view, he said.

मुंबई : उत्तर भारतीयों के विरुद्ध महाराष्ट्र नवनिर्माण सेना (मनसे) के उपद्रव से निपटने में राज्य सरकार की उदासीनता और टालमटोल के तो राजनीतिक कारण समझ में आते हैं, लेकिन उपद्रवकारियों को खुली छूट देने में मुंबई पुलिस की ढिलाई को ही जिम्मेदार माना जायेगा। पहले दौर की गुंडागर्दी में मनसे ने उत्तरभारतीय टैक्सी-रिक्शा चालकों की पिटाई की और अब दूसरे दौर में उसने रेलवे भर्ती बोर्ड की परीक्षा देने आये निर्दोष छात्रों पर हिंसक हमला बोला। लेकिन दोनों ही दफा पुलिस हाथ पर हाथ धरे बैठी रही। यही नहीं राज्य सरकार ने अपनी राजनीतिक रणनीति के दायरे में रहकर जब मनसे प्रमुख राज ठाकरे और उनके निरंकुश कार्यकर्ताओं पर कार्रवाई की तब भी वे शहर की शांति को भंग करने तथा बड़े पैमाने पर तोड़फोड़ करने में सफल हो गये। यहां तक कि उन्होंने अदालत परिसर में भी शर्मनाक हुल्लड़ मचाया और पुलिस लाचार बनी तमाशा देखती रही। जिस प्रकार से मनसे के चंद मुस्टंडों ने मुंबई में रह रहे करीब ४० लाख उत्तर भारतीयों में भय का माहौल कायम कर दिया है, यह मुंबई पुलिस की अकर्मण्यता का शर्मनाक परिणाम है। क्या यह मान लिया जाये कि कभी स्कॉटलैंड यार्ड पुलिस के बाद विश्व की दूसरी मजबूत पुलिस व्यवस्था के रूप में विख्यात रही मुंबई पुलिस आज इतनी अकर्मण्य हो चुकी है कि उससे मनसे के चंद गुंडे नहीं संभल पा रहे हैं। मनसे से निपटने में पुलिस के नाकारापन से आम लोग हैरत में हैं। उन्हें डर इस बात का है कि यदि किसी अन्य मामले को लेकर मनसे की हिंसक कार्यशैली की गाज कभी गैर उत्तर भारतीयों पर गिरी तो क्या होगा? एक सवाल जो आज मुंबई के आम लोगों के मन में है, वह यह है कि बड़े-बड़े अपराधियों पर अंकुश लगानेवाली मुंबई पुलिस आखिर मनसे मामले में नकारा क्यों साबित हो रही है? पुलिस सूत्रों की मानें तो मुंबई पुलिस में मनसे से हमदर्दी रखनेवाले अधिकारियों-कर्मियों की कमी नहीं है। वे जानबूझकर ऐसे समय में मूक दर्शक बने रहते हैं। सूत्रों का कहना है कि मुंबई पुलिस में मनसे प्रमुख राज ठाकरे की अंदर तक पहुंच है और यह तब से है जब से वह शिवसेना के युवा संगठन `विद्यार्थी सेना' के अध्यक्ष थे। उस वक्त पुलिस और प्रशासन में राज की तूती बोलती थी। नतीजा राज और उनके मुस्टंडे तोड़फोड़ किया करते थे और पुलिस तमाशाबीन बनी रहती थी। आज भी ऐसा ही कुछ हो रहा है। यह राज्य की शांति और व्यवस्था के लिए तो ख़तरा है ही, मुंबई पुलिस और राज्य प्रशासन की प्रतिष्ठा के लिए भी कम नुकसानदेह नहीं है।

connection with a private complaint filed against him in Jharkhand. The case against Raj pertains to remarks made by him about Chhat puja in January. Hamid Raza, a lawyer from Jamshedpur, alleged that Thackeray had hurt religious sentiments. The Jamshedpur court issued a non-bailable warrant against Raj on September 30, against which the MNS chief moved the Jharkhand high court, which would hear the matter on November 14. Party spokesperson Nitin Sardesai said they would rely on an SC order, which said that if any complaint was pending against a person with the local police, then the offence should be tried locally where the action had occurred__Mumbai, in Raj's case

Vishwas Patil "Suburban कलेक्टर issued a letter to WR stating prima facie, the land belonged to the state and hence stayed the alienation of the land by way of sale, transfer or development"Mumbai:- The suburban collector Vishwas Patil has stayed the auction of a prime plot outside Bandra station, by Western Railway। The railway was planning to raise several hundred crores to finance major projects in the metropolis by auctioning 29,000 sq-m of waterlogged land located between Anant Kanekar Marg and the Western Express Highway near the Bandra station on the east side।However, on October 21, Patil issued a letter to Western Railway stating that prima facie, the land belonged to the state government and hence the stayed the alienation of the land by way of sale, transfer or development। He also warned that any government agency or private party buying this land will be doing so entirely at their risk।A spokesperson of WR said, "The issue is being handled the land management department of the railway board in Delhi. We are not concerned about the notice." However, another WR official said the railway ministry should have done its homework before going ahead with the auction. Patil's notice has caused a major embarrassment to the railways," he added.The issue was first raised by local MLA Janardhan Chandurkar of the Congress who claimed that the land belonged to the state government. He wanted to know how the railways were auctioning land, which did not belong to them in the first place, and that too without the permission of the state government.Following a representation made by Chandurkar, Patil visited the spot on October 18 along with senior officials of the city survey office, revenue department and tehsildar. He said even the property card had not been created for the relevant land."But under the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1996, all rivers, creeks and water bodies are owned by the state government." पट

''While asking the Railway Board to reconsider its decision on cancelling the Chenab bridge plan, the Northern Railway GM, in his letter, did not talk about the instability of the gorge because of which the sub-contractor could not even excavate the slopes for building the bridge foundation"
New Delhi:- The four-year old project of building the world's highest bridge on the Chenab has been scraped by the Railway Board for lack of safety and stability। However, the Northern Railway has asked the board to "reconsider" its decision on political and extraneous considerations। In a letter on September 20, Northern Railway GM Shri Prakash said he wanted the bridge, which is part of the first rail link to the Valley, to be revived for three broad reasons:-1) Representations from politicians and local media reports are seeking the resumption of work on the existing alignment.2) At a review meeting on September 10, J&K Governor N N Vohra "expressed concern" over the suspension of all work since July on the 125 km stretch from Katra to Banihal in the Jammu region, including the Chenab bridge.3) The issue was "highly sensitive" as the proposal of modifying the Katra-Banihal alignment, including the plan to shift the Chenab bridge a couple of kilometres upstream from a gorge to a wide valley, might lead to "great public resentment in villages that are likely to be excluded with the change of alignment"Nowhere in his two-page letter did Shri Prakash address the instability of the gorge because of the which project sub-contractor Ultra-Afcons-VSL could not even excavate the slopes for building the foundation of the mega arch bridge. He was silent on this issue although it was the main reason why railway board member (engineering) S K Vij had ordered that all contracts for a 34-km stretch from Katra to Surukot, including the Chenab bridge, be "short closed". Since this "project of national importance" is financed directly from the consolidated fund of India, Shri Prakash also glossed over Vij's concern about the idling claims made by tunnel and bridge contractors for the abandoned 34-km stretch mounting to Rs 1,000 crore, which includes Rs 300crore for the Chenab bridge alone.The wastage of taxpayer's money on this nonstarter prompted Vij to record on September 26 that Shri Prakash should have "implemented orders to avoid idling claims". As for the GM's argument that the relocation of the track might anger the villages that are likely to be excluded, Vij pointed that the modified alignment would not affect the residents do remote places as the 250-km main access road from Katra to Banihal was still being built.Rejecting Prakash's plea to stick to the existing alignment, Vij recorded that he should instead have come up with suggestions on what else could be done to alley the apprehensions of locals till work starts on the modified alignment. Though Vij is authorized to have the final say, Shri Prakash has continued to defy him and has still not terminated the contracts, which are pilling up the government's liabilities.

PATNA: Railways minister Lalu Prasad on Sunday urged all MPs and lawmakers from Bihar to resign after November 15 to protest attacks on north Indians, particularly Biharis, in Maharashtra.
Lalu said his appeal is directed to MPs and legislators from all parties in Bihar to resign on the issue. "It will be a total resignation including all parties' MPs, legislators and Independents," Lalu said at a press meet. Chhath is now being celebrated in Bihar. The resignations will take place after November 15 as Lalu wants to give about a week's time to all the political parties after Chhath is over. Clad in white kurta-payjama and surrounded by party leaders and workers, Lalu launched a scathing attack on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray for repeated attacks on north Indians. "Attacks and killing are handiwork of communal forces like MNS and Shiv Sena," he said. On the all party Bihar delegation last month that met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and submitted a memorandum for action against MNS and Raj Thackeray, Lalu said that it was the right time to show a united face of Bihar to send a strong message that Bihar will not tolerate any such incident in future. He announced launching of an all party agitation on the issue of Bihari 'asmita' (honour). "We will take to streets in and outside Bihar to warn element like MNS and Shiv Sena," he said. He made it clear that he along with all of his party's 24 MPs, 4 Rajya Sabha MPs, and 55 legislators including his wife Rabri Devi, who is leader of opposition in Bihar assembly, would resign along with other MPs and legislators belonging to other parties and Independents. "It is for other parties to decide and ensure resignation of their MPs and legislators. My party MPs and legislators would resign on the issue," Lalu said. Lalu blamed Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for cracks in Bihar unity while referring to the Janata Dal (United) threat that its MPs would resign after November 6. "How could JD(U) alone take the decision when it was decided at the time of the all party delegation to fight a united battle," Lalu queried. The JD(U), part of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has five members in parliament. It is ruling Bihar in coalition with the BJP. Lalu said he favours that all Bihar's MPs and legislators should resign on any day after November 15. He challenged Nitish Kumar and its ally BJP, the main constituent of National Democratic Alliance, to make their MPs and legislators agree to submitting resignations on the issue. Lalu also dared Nitish Kumar and BJP to snap ties with Shiv Sena on the issue of Bihar. "Either Nitish or BJP should sever their ties with Shiv Sena or make their relationship with Shiv Sena clear before the people," Lalu said. He suggested the formation of a steering committee of all parties in Bihar to lead the agitation in and outside the state. He defended Manmohan Singh by saying that Singh had warned the Maharashtra government on the issue and written one letter after another in this regard. He reiterated the demand for a judicial probe into the killing of Rahul Raj, who was shot by Mumbai Police on Monday after he fired indiscriminately in a city bus and threatened to kill Raj Thackeray. Lalu called the shooting a "brutal murder" and expressed his unhappiness over Maharashtra government's action till date. "I am for a judicial probe by a sitting judge of the high court into Rahul Raj's brutal murder and stern action against Maharashtra police officials guilty of it," Lalu said.

नई दिल्ली : प्राप्त ताजा जानकारी के अनुसार श्री आर. एन. वर्मा की पोस्टिंग पश्चिम रेलवे में हो जायेगी क्योंकि हमारे विश्वसनीय सूत्रों का कहना है की श्री वर्मा ने अपने एक चीफ इनकम टैक्स कमिश्नर के माध्यम से रेल मंत्री लालू प्रसाद यादव की गर्दन पकड़ ली है। सूत्रों का कहना है की दिल्ली के चीफ इनकम टैक्स कमिश्नर, श्री वर्मा के बैचमेट हैं और २४ किलोमीटर के दायरे वाली मेट्रो से निकलकर पश्चिम रेलवे में बतौर महाप्रबंधक आने के लिए श्री वर्मा ने अपने इसी चीफ इनकम टैक्स कमिश्नर का दामन थांबा है। सूत्रों ने बताया की चीफ इनकम टैक्स कमिश्नर ने अपने बैचमेट श्री वर्मा का यह काम करवाने के लिए अपने जूनियर और पटना के इनकम टैक्स कमिश्नर श्री अजय सिंह को कहा। सूत्रों का कहना है की लालू की आय से अधिक संपत्ति की जांच के सारे मामले इन्ही अजय सिंह के हाथ में हैं। सूत्रों ने बताया की अपने 'बॉस' के आदेश का पालन करते हुए अजय सिंह इस काम के लिए कंपनी मामलों के मंत्री प्रेम चाँद गुप्ता को साथ लेकर सीधे लालू के पास रेल भवन पहुँच गए। जहाँ बताते हैं की कई मेम्बर्स के साथ लालू की मीटिंग चल रही थी, परन्तु जैसे ही श्री अजय सिंह श्री गुप्ता के साथ लालू के चेंबर में घुसे वैसे ही लगभग हडबडाते हुए उठकर लालू ने ''अरे आईये आईये अजय बाबू आईये आईये, आज यहाँ कहाँ घूम पड़े, सब खैरियत तो है न...........।'' उसी झोंक में लालू फ़िर श्री गुप्ता पर पिल पड़े और उन्हें लगभग गरियाते हुए कहा की ''भौजी को मिलने गए थे की नहीं, तुम से कितनी बार कहा है की भौजी को मिलने जाते रहा करो वो यहाँ दिल्ली में अकेली रहती हैं, अजय बाबु पटना में रहते हैं, महीने में एक बार आते जाते हैं, तो भौजी का ख्याल हम नहीं रखेंगे तो कौन रखेगा, ससुरा तुमसे कितनी बार कहा है की भौजी को मिठाई पहुँचा दो मगर........' जबकि अजय सिंह भी उनकी इस नौटंकी को बखूबी समझ रहे थे.इसी के साथ लालू ने सब अधिकारीयों को अपने चेंबर से बाहर जाने को कह दिया। इसके बाद अजय सिंह ने वहाँ अपने आने का असली मकसद बताया, लालू ने जोर चपरासी को आवाज लगाई, ''जाओ जल्दी से 'चोरमैन' ( चेयरमैन, रेलवे बोर्ड ) को बुला लाओ, CRB के आते ही लालू ने हुकुम दनदनाया की जाओ जल्दी से आर. एन. वर्मा को पश्चिम रेलवे में पोस्ट करने का प्रस्ताव बनाकर ले आओ।'' सूत्रों का कहना है की श्री वर्मा के फंडा में काफ़ी दम है और अब लालू K.C.JENA की ही तरह वर्मा की फाइल बगल में दबा कर PMO से करा लायेंगे। जबकि विवेक सहाय ने अपने अपंग बेटे को ही इस बार भी अपनी पसंद की पोस्टिंग का मोहरा बनाया है और उसका मेडिकल सर्टिफिकेट लगा दिया है। इस तरह लालू को अगर इनकम टैक्स डिपार्टमेन्ट से अपनी जान बचानी है तो आर. एन. वर्मा और विवेक सहाय को उनकी पसंद की पोस्टिंग देनी ही पड़ेगी। हालांकि सूत्रों का कहना है की अभी तक श्री वर्मा की फाइल DOPT में ही अटकी पड़ी है परन्तु उससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता, क्योंकि लालू उनकी फाइल ख़ुद लेकर जायेंगे और उस पर पीएम् से साईन कराकर लायेंगे।

श्री शकील अहमद ने भारत सरकार के गृह राज्य मंत्री के रूप में कार्यभार ग्रहण करने के बाद अपनी औकात दिखानी शुरू कर दी है , उनके पास राजभाषा विभाग भी दिया गया है और उन्होने सबसे पहले अपने मुसलमान भाइयों को विभिन्न मंत्रालयों की हिन्दी सलाहकार समितियों में सदस्य के रूप में नामित करना शुरू भी कर दिया है ।
सुना है कि कुछ मुसलमान तो ऐसे है जिन्हे हिनदी से कुछ भी लेना देना नहीं है, उन्हे केवल सरकारी खर्च पर एैश करने केलिए हिन्दी सलाहकार समितियों में सदस्य के रूप में नामित किया गया है । विशवस्तसूत्रों से पता चला है कि फोटा जर्नलिसट प्रकार के कुछ चमचों को भी रेल हिनदी सलाहकार समिति में ठूंस दिया गया है , एक मुसलमान तो नन्दूरबार जिले के है जिनहे हिनदी में दस्तखत भी नहीं करने आते । जबकि नियमानुसार यदि सदस्य बने , तो हिनदी की यह दुर्दशा न हो ।

नई दिल्ली : फेडरेशन ऑफ़ आफिसर्स एसोसिएशंस ( ऍफ़आरओऐ ) के प्रमुख पदाधिकारियों की आज दि। २७-१०-०८ को रेलवे बोर्ड में एक बैठक हुई जिसमें ओपन लाइन से ओपन लाइन में जीएम्स की अदला-बदली किए जाने के बोर्ड के प्रस्ताव का कड़ा विरोध जताया गया। हमारे सूत्रों का कहना है की इस ग़लत परम्परा का विरोध करते हुए अधिकारीयों ने कहा की इससे योग्य लोगों का हक मारा जा रहा है और एक ख़ास लाबी को फायदा पहुंचाने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है। जबकि इसी लाबिंग की वजह से अन्य कैडरों को नुक्सान हो रहा है जो की कतई उचित नहीं है।सूत्रों का कहना है की बैठक में इस आशय का एक प्रस्ताव भी पारित कर दिया गया है और यह प्रस्ताव दीवाली के बाद पहले कार्य दिवस गुरुवार या शुक्रवार को सीआरबी और मंत्री की टेबल पर पहुँचा दिया जायेगा। सूत्रों ने बताया की बैठक में इंजीनियरिंग अधिकारीयों ने ख़ास तौर पर इस अदला-बदली का विरोध किया क्योंकि ट्रैफिक लाबी की मनमानी से सबसे ज्यादा नुक्सान उन्हीं का हो रहा है।पता चला है की सीआरबी ने अपने 'बिरादरी' भाइयों का फेवर करते हुए श्री आर. एन. वर्मा को मेट्रो से प. रे. और उनकी जगह सीओएम्/प. म. रे. श्री वि. एन. त्रिपाठी को तथा श्री विवेक सहाय को उ. म. रे. से उ. रे. में और उनकी जगह सीईई/प. रे. श्री ऐ. के. वोहरा को भेजे जाने का प्रस्ताव भेजा है। हालांकि हमारे सूत्रों का कहना है की श्री वर्मा की फाइल अभी तक डीओपीटी में ही अटकी पड़ी है।सूत्रों ने बताया की डीओपीटी ने श्री यु. सी. डी. श्रेणी के आरएससी में भेजे जाने के प्रस्ताव के करके बोर्ड के सांसत में डाल दिया है क्योंकि श्री श्रेणी के मेट्रो से ओपन लाइन पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे में भेजे जाने के समय बोर्ड ने डीओपीटी के यह बताया था की जिसे मेंबर बनाना होता है उसे ओपन लाइन में भेजा जाता है, डीओपीटी ने यही बोर्ड से पूछा है की अब ऐसा क्या हो गया है की श्री श्रेणी को ओपन लाइन से हटा कर साइड लाइन ( आरएससी ) में भेजा जा रहा है? बताया जाता है की अब श्री श्रेणी के साथ भी सीआरबी और मंत्री की 'सेटिंग' हो गई है इसलिए अब उन्हें एनईआर से नहीं हटाने का नया प्रस्ताव भेजा गया है।इसी तरह दूसरा प्रस्ताव यह था की श्री श्रेणी की जगह श्री दीपक कृष्ण को और श्री सहाय की जगह श्री वोहरा को था श्री वर्मा की जगह श्री त्रिपाठी को भेजा जाएगा। जबकि इसके पहले का प्रस्ताव यह था की श्री दीपक कृष्ण को पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे और श्री सुदेश कुमार को ( आरएससी ) में भेजा जाए। परन्तु यह प्रस्ताव धरा रह गया। बाद में श्री दीपक कृष्ण को पूर्व रेलवे का भी प्रस्ताव बना था।अपने ब्लॉग में 'रेलवे समाचार' ने 'बिरादरी' और 'लेनदेन' के इस खेल को दो दिन पहले ही एक्सपोज कर दिया था जिससे बोर्ड और पीएम्ओ तथा डीओपीटी में हड़कंप मच गया था और इसी के मद्देनजर ऍफ़आरओऐ की यह अर्जेंट मीटिंग बुलाई गई थी क्योंकि इस तमाम 'खेल' से रेलवे की छवि ख़राब हो रही है बल्कि अधिकारीयों के बीच वैमनस्यता भी बढ़ रही है जिससे उनके अन्दर एक-दूसरे के प्रति आक्रोश की भावना पैदा हो रही है जो की स्वस्थ प्रशासन के हित में नहीं है।सूतों का कहना था की बैठक के बाद अधिकारीयों ने आपस में यह उम्मीद अवश्य जाहिर की की उपरोक्त तमाम वस्तुस्थितियों को मद्देनजर रखते हुए पीएम्ओ इस 'लेनदेन के खेल' को सफल नहीं होने देगा। क्योंकि इससे न सिर्फ़ रेलवे की छवि ख़राब हो रही है बल्कि अधिकारीयों में भी आपस में वैमनस्यता बढ़ रही है। इसके अलावा जोनल रेल प्रशासन भी बुरी तरह प्रभावित हो रहा है।

महाप्रबंधकों की पोस्टिंग में 'बिरादरी' और 'लेनदेन' का खेल
नई दिल्ली : पता चला है की सीआरबी ने जीएम की पोस्टिंग का जो प्रस्ताव रेल मंत्री को भेजा है उसमें जीएम/मेट्रो रेलवे श्री आर एन वर्मा को पश्चिम रेलवे और जीएम/एनसीआर श्री विवेक सहाय को उत्तर रेलवे का जीएम बनाया जाना प्रस्तावित किया गया है। ज्ञातव्य है की श्री वर्मा और श्री सहाय दोनों ही वर्त्तमान में ओपन लाइन के जीएम हैं क्योंकि मेट्रो को भी ओपन लाइन माना गया है।उल्लेखनीय है की ओपन लाइन से ओपन लाइन में ट्रांसफर की कोई पॉलिसी नहीं है, ओपन लाइन से ओपन लाइन में अपवाद स्वरुप ही जीएम्स की अदला-बदली की जाती है, इसी के तहत शायद यू.सी.डी.श्रेणी को मेट्रो से पूर्वोत्तर रेलवे में भेजा गया था, जिन्हें पुनः वहाँ से हटाकर रेलवे स्टाफ कॉलेज ( आरएससी ) वडोदरा भेजे जाने के बोर्ड के प्रस्ताव को डीओपीटी ने करारे जवाब के साथ लौटा दिया है। ज्ञातव्य है की वर्त्तमान जीएम पैनल के पहले नंबर पर श्री सुदेश कुमार, आईआरएसईई, को आरएससी और दूसरे नंबर पर श्री दीपक कृष्ण, आईआरएसई, को पूर्व रेलवे का जीएम बनाने के प्रस्ताव को रेल मंत्री वापस लौटा चुके हैं।
अब जो श्री वर्मा और श्री सहाय को क्रमशः पश्चिम रेलवे एवं उत्तर रेलवे में भेजे जाने का प्रस्ताव सीआरबी ने किया है उसके पीछे 'बिरादरी' की भावना और करोड़ों रुपये के खेल की अहम् भूमिका बताई जा रही है। क्योंकि एक तो ओपन लाइन से ओपन लाइन में जीएम्स के ट्रांसफर की कोई पॉलिसी नहीं है, दूसरे जिस जीएम को आगे बोर्ड मेंबर बनाना होता है और वह यदि किसी प्रोडक्शन यूनिट, जैसे डीएलडबल्यू / सीएलडबल्यू / डीएम्डबल्यू / आईसीऍफ़ / आरडबल्यूऍफ़ / आरसीऍफ़, में बतौर जीएम पदस्थ होता है, तो उसे वहाँ से निकालकर ओपन लाइन का जीएम बनाया जाता है। यही अब तक की परम्परा रही है।
परन्तु अब 'बिरादरी' और पैसे के लिए इस परम्परा को भी टाक पर रखा जा रहा है। उल्लेखनीय है की श्री सहाय हमेशा अपने अपंग बेटे के नाम पर अपनी पसंद की पोस्टिंग में रहे हैं अब पुनः उसी के नाम पर दिल्ली में पोस्टिंग मांग रहे हैं जबकि अब तक वह पहले मध्य रेलवे एवं बाद में पश्चिम रेलवे की जुगाड़ में थे। अब चूंकि उनके अपंग बेटे का एडमीशन दिल्ली में अपंग कोटे में हो गया है इसलिए उन्हें अब उत्तर रेलवे, दिल्ली में पोस्टिंग चाहिए। अपने साढू भाई श्री वर्मा को वह अपनी जगह पश्चिम रेलवे में भिजवा रहे हैं...?
पता चला है की श्री आर एन वर्मा के पश्चिम रेलवे में आने का प्रस्ताव सुनकर पीपावाव रेलवे कारपोरेशन लिमिटेड और कच्छ रेलवे कारपोरेशन लिमिटेड के दोनों प्रबंध निदेशक परेशान हो गए हैं क्योंकि उन्हें लगता है की श्री वर्मा के पश्चिम रेलवे में आने से उनको अपना काम करना काफ़ी मुश्किल हो जाएगा। हमारे विश्वसनिय सूत्रों का कहना है की यह बात दोनों प्रबंध निदेशकों ने दिल्ली जाकर सीआरबी से भी कही है। सूत्रों का कहना है की सीआरबी ने उन्हें 'एज यूजुअल' एम्आर का नाम लेकर कहा की यह प्रस्ताव उनका नहीं एम्आर का है, इसमें वह कुछ नहीं कर सकते हैं।
यहाँ वही कहावत लागू हो रही है की 'कुछ करें देवी कुछ करें पंडा' , यानी एम्आर के नाम पर तो भारतीय रेल में किसी से भी कुछ भी करा या करवाया जा सकता है, वैसे भी एम्आर के मुंह से निकला हर शब्द नियम बन जाता है और अब तो रेल अधिकारीयों को भी इसकी आदत हो गई है और इसी के नाम पर ट्रान्सफर, पोस्टिंग, प्रमोशन आदि में 'बाढ़ ही खेत को खा रही है'। सूत्रों का कहना है की चूँकि सीआरबी को रिटायर होने से पहले अपना घाटा पूरा करना है, इसलिए जो ज्यादा 'बोली' लगा रहा है उसे ओपन लाइन में भेजने का प्रस्ताव बनाकर भेजा जा रहा है और इसके लिए एम्आर का नाम आगे किया जा रहा है जबकि सबको मालूम अहि की एम्आर को अपनी राजनीती चमकाने के आगे यह सब देखने की फुर्सत नहीं है।
इसके अलावा सूत्रों का यह भी कहना है की श्री वर्मा को प. रे. और श्री सहाय को उ. रे. में भेजे जाने के सीआरबी के प्रस्ताव से रेल राज्य मंत्री श्री नारण भाई राठवा भी नाराज हैं क्योंकि उन्हें भी पता है की श्री वर्मा के प रे में आने से उनके क्षेत्र के कई काम अटक जायेंगे। सूत्रों का कहना है की श्री राठवा प. म. रे. के वर्त्तमान सीओएम् श्री वी. एन. त्रिपाठी को प. रे. में लाना चाहते थे मगर सीआरबी ने उन्हें धोखे में रखकर प्रस्ताव बनाकर भेज दिया। सूत्रों का कहना है की श्री राठवा को इस बात की आशंका है की श्री वर्मा के प. रे. में आने से उनके कामों वे अड़ंगा लगायेंगे। क्योंकि उनकी यह आदत है।
सम्बंधित जांच एजेंसियों से यह उम्मीद की जाती है की वह रेलवे बोर्ड और सीआरबी की इस मनमानी को समय पर रोक पाने में कामयाब होंगी।

The Rail minister is उसिंग Maharashtra against Bihar for personal gain, and making Raj Thackeray a hero in the process"New Delhi:- There is a disquiet in the top echelons of the Congress and the NCP , the ruling combine in Maharashtra, that Bihar leaders in general and Rail Minister Lalu Prasad in particular, have made the attack on North Indians in Mumbai too much of an 'ego' issue.Leaders of both parties feel Lalu is overplaying the attacks on Biharis as a political card to rebuild lost ground in his home state.They are worried that if he keeps harping on the attacks, it will only help make MNS chief Raj Thackeray a hero.Some Congress ministers, in particular, are alarmed at the attempt to pit Maharashtra against Bihar, as was done at the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday."This is dangerous politics. Lalu is pitting Maharashtra against Bihar for the sake of politics," pointed out a concerned Union Minister from the South.Some Congress ministers were surprised when Bihar leaders led by Ram Vilas Paswan sought to raise the issue of attack on North Indians at the Cabinet meeting because the issue was not even on the agenda.Apart from some official business, the Cabinet was to discuss the Assam blasts. But since it had very little information, Bihar leaders hijacked the agenda to Mumbai, observed a Union Minster."The concern of teh Union Cabinet is that regional chauvinism is contained,' said Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy.The NCP did not seem at all comfortable with Lalu's provocative anti-Maharashtra utterances. "Attacks on migrants is unacceptable. But nobody should use provocative language." said NCP General Secretary D P Tripathy.The party also sees a nexus between rebel Congress leader Narayan Rane and Raj Thackeray. "Rane's men were found to be involved in the Kalyan violence," said an NCP Leader.

Railway officials reject charges of exam bias
Mumbai:- Senior railway officials said on Friday that the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams were centralised exams with equal oppurtunity for candidatesfrom all across India. They were rejecting charges made by MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who said the RRB exams were being manipulated to favour some candidates.Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR) officials ridiculed Thackeray's charge that candidates from Bihar were liberately sent to appear for the exams conducted in Mumbai."There are 19 RRBs across India to cover the 16 zonal railways, workshops and factories, there is no reason why candidates should only prefer RRB, Mumbai. The salary scales and perks of the Indian Railways are the same for everywhere," said an official.Officials pointed out that Bihari, Jharkhnad and Uttar Pradesh have recruitment boards at Muzaffarpur, Patna, Ranchi, Allahabad and Gorakhpur. All these RRBs frequently advertise for vacancies in zones under their jurisdiction, said officials. More often than not, these RRBs do issue advertisements in newspapers published in other places, including Mumbai, added officials. There are RRBs in practically every important city, including Kolkata, Malda, Guwahati, Bhubhaneshwar, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Secundrabad, Thiruvananthapuram and even Srinagar.Another official, himself from Maharashtra, said candidates from the state can easily get forms for the RRB exams in front of any big terminus, like CST or Churchgate in Mumbai. All these ads are routinely printed in the Employment Exchange magazine."They can also go to RRB exams held in other states, just like the north Indians come here for RRB exams. It's similar to an MBA aspirant from the South going for an entrance held at a Delhi or Gurgaon business school," an official reasoned.Asked if RRB, Mumbai, offered more vacancies than other RRBs in the country, senior officials said no. "Northern Railway has many more express and mail train vacancies. Zones covering Bihar, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh have huge freight operaions due to coal reserves. And the Eastern and Southern Railways have subarban as well as outstation operations like CR and WR," an official explained.

I have never opposed Chhat Puja, says Raj
"MNS chief attempts to clear the air before the north Indian festival on Tuesday, says he is only opposed to its politicisation"Worried about every stray incident of violence being attributed to his party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray went on the backfoot on Friday as he declared that he had absolutely no opposition to Chhat Puja if it was not politicised.Thackeray has sought special permission from the police to clear the air ahead of the festival to be celebrated by Biharis on a large scale on Tuesday. There were apprehensions in city that MNS activists would go on a rampage again when north Indians assembled at Juhu Beach on Tuesday. Raj's clarification will allow the festival to continue smoothly as he asked his followers to maintain calm.Raj's arrest last week had sparked violent incidents in the city that included the death of a migrant on a Mumbai train and a shooting of a Patna youth on the BEST bus in Kurla. Rahul Raj, a Bihari youth, had allegedly come to Mumbai to kill Raj Thackeray. Raj activists also smashed several ST buses, BEST buses, taxis and auto rickshaws in protest over their leader's arrestAt the press conference on Friday, however, Raj preached peace. "I have never opposed the Chhat Puja. I have only spoken against the political 'tamasha' (stunts) associated with it. People from Bihar who live here can perform religious rituals according to their customs. My party has never opposed it," he said.This was his first press conference where he did not spit venom against north Indian leaders, nor id he make any provocative statements. However, he did reiterate that his battle for the Marathi manoos would continue.Raj backed the Mumbai police over the killing of Rahul Raj who had allegedly come to Mumbai to kill him."You would have to flayed the police had he shot some commuters. Who knew where this youth had came from?" he asked.Raising questions about downgrading his personal security , he said, "How did they reduced the security so suddenly? The police security review committee decides what security cover to give to people on grounds of threat perception and his importance in public life. Don't forget, people in power change often. What will they do when I come to power?", he asked.

CR okays linking of two FOBs in Thane Thane:- The Central Railway (CR) decision to connect the two foot-over bridges(FOBs) at the Kalyan end of the Thane station has brought good cheer to scores of commuters who have to squeeze their way to the crowded platforms.The CR has also okayed a track revamp plan that will facilitate a halt-free entry of the stations into Thane station. The CR Officials alongwith Shiv Sena MP from Thane Anand Paranjpe and Sena MLA Eknath Shinde inspected the station area to address long-pending issues.Paranjpe has been making the rounds of the railway ministry in Delhi seeking the railway board's intervention for the revamp of Thane station, which is the first station to be built in the country during British rule.The rail authorities have failed to keep pace with the population expansion in and around Thane. With a commuter traffic of more than 5 lakhs per day, Thane is one of the most revenue-generating stations. "Ideally, the station ought to be given a heritage status. However, it has been turned into a disgrace because of negligence by CR officials. Most of the ticket counters do not work. This inconveniences the commuters who have to wait in serpentine queues to buy a ticket, "said S Nandgopal, a regular commuter.He said there are only two FOBs and this makes it difficult to enter or exit the platforms. "Both the FOBs are narrow and it takes nearly 15 minutes to climb up or down the platform during rush hours, "he added.Shinde said, "Most of the commuters avoid the crowded FOB. They risk their lives by crossing the tracks even during peak hours. "He said the railways should also construct a new bridge taking into consideration the growing commuter traffic.
